Dear friend of Europe,
To deliver a more secure world, society at all levels needs to deal with the big existential threats of climate change, environmental degradation and more.
But it also needs to counter the rising tide of disinformation and misinformation which is undermining climate action, polluting genuine debate and perhaps democracy itself.
How can the majority of nations, including in Europe, stand firm on climate action in the face of systematic attacks by some big powers on both the science and the value of taking climate action.
These are the same big powers also influencing the conversation in the digital space while at the same also in control of other nations personal data- –for example up to 80 per cent of Europeans’ data is currently held not in Europe but in the USA even China.
This side event brings together top tier experts to outline how we strengthen both challenges in ways that can have positive outcomes for the health of our planet and the health of our societies.
The Twin Transition discussion will also hear at first hand from the newly appointed CEO of a new European-based social media channel that aims to provide an alternative to the status quo.
